Khatri was born in New Jersey USA in 1972 and received a BFA in Surface pattern design from Syracuse University. She began her career in New York as a textile designer before moving into interior design. Her years of experience designing furniture, carpets, and wall coverings have had a profound impact on her practice and its influence can be seen through the processes she employs today.

Khatri is an abstract painter focusing on material experimentation with a spiritual journey. Her work is influenced by colour theory and chromotherapy: the practice that uses colour to promote healing and well-being. As different colours are believed to have a certain effects on the mind, Khatri rhythmically repeats patterns and colour to spark interest and contemplation. Some of Khatri’s work spills pattern into woven textural melodies intended to soothe and create a sense of tranquility. By applying intricate geometric designs onto wood, Khatri has developed an unorthodox method to present pattern. Lyrically weaving wood with precision cutting and inlaying, she captures the attention of the viewer and invites them to observe how intricate and time-consuming her process is.

Khatri lives and works in West London. She was recently commissioned to produce a large scale work for the lobby of The July Hotel, based in Amsterdam. She has previously exhibited at The Fitztrovia Gallery (London), Finch Cafe (London), AKA Contemporary, (Cambridge), and The Lido Stores (Margate).

In 2022, she was shortlisted for the VAA Artist Prize and has previously exhibited at The Other Art Fair (London), BWAC Pier Show 7 (Brooklyn, NY), and New York University’s coveted small works show.
